The first real writer I ever knew - and still know: Mel Gilden. Hey, Mel!

The first writer who showed me what historical fiction could be - perhaps the first who didn't spend 3/4 of a book bragging about everything she knew, but just got on with the (great!) story: Cecelia Holland.

My writing coach, without whose help and encouragement (I could tell you stories!) Peryton might never have been completed, and would certainly not have the form it does today: the late Monique Raphael High.

The colleague who was happy to answer very frank questions very frankly, helping the relationship between Akhaides and Temenus come fully to the life it deserved, Jason Mack.

So lucky to have found my first pro reader/proofreader: Jodi Egerton.

The photographer who made me look far better than I thought anyone could manage: Bil Sullivan.

Far more than just a highly respected professional editor, Michael Carr, also my one-man cheering section.
